What you'll focus on
General Ledger Management
- Oversee the daily operations of the general ledger, ensuring accurate recording of journal entries, adjustments, and account reconciliations.
- Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including preparing and reviewing financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Ensure all GL activities are in compliance with GAAP or IFRS and internal accounting policies.
- Manage all tax compliance processes, including preparing and filing local, state, and federal tax returns.
- Oversee indirect tax compliance (such as VAT, and sales tax), ensuring timely and accurate filings and payments.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax regulations, applying changes to the company’s tax processes as needed.
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and responding to inquiries.
- Develop and maintain internal controls related to GL and tax functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Coordinate with internal departments and external auditors to ensure transparency and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Supervise and mentor GL and tax team members, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
- Allocate work effectively, set clear expectations, and ensure team members adhere to deadlines and quality standards.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of GL and tax functions.
- Collaborate with the finance and IT teams to automate repetitive tasks and streamline workflows.
- Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements, ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Provide management with regular reports on GL and tax activities, along with insights on potential risks or opportunities for optimization.
