Associate Manager - GL [Philippines]

What you'll focus on
General Ledger Management
  • Oversee the daily operations of the general ledger, ensuring accurate recording of journal entries, adjustments, and account reconciliations.
  • Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including preparing and reviewing financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Ensure all GL activities are in compliance with GAAP or IFRS and internal accounting policies.
Tax Compliance and Reporting
  • Manage all tax compliance processes, including preparing and filing local, state, and federal tax returns.
  • Oversee indirect tax compliance (such as VAT, and sales tax), ensuring timely and accurate filings and payments.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax regulations, applying changes to the company’s tax processes as needed.
Audit and Internal Controls
  • Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and responding to inquiries.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls related to GL and tax functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external auditors to ensure transparency and accuracy in financial reporting.
Team Supervision and Development
  • Supervise and mentor GL and tax team members, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
  • Allocate work effectively, set clear expectations, and ensure team members adhere to deadlines and quality standards.
Process Improvement and Automation
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of GL and tax functions.
  • Collaborate with the finance and IT teams to automate repetitive tasks and streamline workflows.
Financial Reporting
  • Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements, ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Provide management with regular reports on GL and tax activities, along with insights on potential risks or opportunities for optimization.
What you bring
General Ledger Accounting
  • Expertise in managing the general ledger, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and adjustments to ensure accurate financial records.
Financial Reporting and Compliance
  • Proficiency in preparing financial statements and ensuring compliance with accounting standards (GAAP or IFRS). Familiarity with regulatory requirements and reporting deadlines.
Tax Compliance and Filings
  • In-depth knowledge of tax laws and regulations at the local, state, and federal levels, including corporate income tax, indirect taxes (e.g., VAT, sales tax), and compliance deadlines. Skilled in preparing, filing, and paying taxes accurately and on time.
ERP and Financial Software Proficiency
  • Advanced user of ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite for managing GL and tax functions. Familiarity with tax software or tools for automating tax compliance is advantageous.
Advanced Excel and Data Analysis
  • Skilled in Excel, including advanced functions (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros) for data analysis, financial reporting, and process automation.

Internal Controls and Audit Support
  • Experience implementing and maintaining internal controls related to GL and tax functions to ensure accuracy and compliance. Able to prepare and provide necessary documentation for audits and respond to auditor inquiries.
Month-End and Year-End Close Processes
  • Proficient in managing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities, including reconciliations, accruals, and adjustments for accurate financial reporting.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills
  • Strong analytical skills to assess financial data, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues efficiently. Skilled in interpreting complex tax regulations and applying them accurately.
Budgeting and Forecasting
  • Knowledge of budgeting and forecasting processes, particularly related to tax liabilities and cash flow management for tax payments.
Process Improvement and Automation
  • Familiarity with automation tools (e.g., RPA or tax automation software) and a proactive approach to streamlining GL and tax processes, reducing manual tasks, and increasing accuracy.
